We held a splendid car boot sale and stalls for Start Up Stirling (for the homeless) at Holy Trinity today, and raised nearly £1000 in a morning. Some lessons learned about how to run these, but I, for one, have not learned the most important lesson: the thing on the table that you think might just be exactly what you need … is usually not.
There was this exercise-rowing-elastic thingy which you stretch between feet and hands and develop toned muscles. Perfect. And when I tried it at home, it was great – just a bit slack, so pull a bit and adjust my feet and … it ricocheted onto my forehead. So as I write I have a cold compress over a large red lump and a very sheepish expression.
What has been your most regretted purchase at one of these sales?
